History of the University
The University of Rome “Tor Vergata” (UNITV) began its institutional activities in 1982 and it is currently located in Rome in via Cracovia 50, where the rectorate and the headquarters of the Law Faculty are located. The University develops on a campus which covers an area of approximately 600 hectares with settlements divided into 6 Macro-Areas (Economics, Law, Engineering, Humanities, Medicine and Surgery and Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences) and 18 Departments which provide complex 113 Degree Courses. The international dimension of the University is particularly qualified, growing over time, ranking in the top one hundred positions in the QS Ranking of the Top 50-Under 50 universities and in second place among Italian universities (2019). The University is included in prestigious international networks including: YERUN (Young European Research Universities Network), which unites the 18 best European universities founded less than 50 years ago and present in the most important international rankings); VIU (Venice International University network); EUA (European University Association), the organization that represents and supports more than 850 higher education institutions in 47 European countries; UNICA (Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe), institutional network of 49 universities from 37 European capitals; YUFE (Young Universities for the Future of Europe), one of the 17 university alliances chosen by the European Commission to develop the European University of the future.
Location
| It is directly connected with the A-line metro terminus (bus 20): A-line is the subway that connects all the major monuments in Rome, including the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums. A shuttle will be organized in the morning and in the evening for an even smoother connection between the A-subway terminus “Anagnina” and the location of the ICEIV 2024 Conference, hosted at the Department of Enterprise Engineering “Mario Lucertini”. |
The campus is located in the quiet and spacious area of the south-eastern boundary of Rome, far from the crowds of the touristic locations.
Touristic Recommendations (WIP)
Rome has two International Airports: Fiumicino (the largest one) and Ciampino. Fiumicino is connected to the center through the “Leonardo Express” Train, that will take You at Termini Station in 20 minutes. Termini Station is the hub for Rome subways: Line A subway will take You to the terminus “Anagnina”, the closest stop to Tor Vergata University. Ciampino is closer to Tor Vergata, You can reach the University through a cab.
In the area of Tor Vergata University, you can find several hotels and B&B (visit booking), but you can also lodge in the very center and reach the University through the A-subway: from Roma Termini, it usually takes 40 minutes to reach Anagnina terminus.
